Will C. creatively designed a custom solution to install a new shower system in two bathrooms. Will worked with the existing plumbing to avoid extensive work and costs. I am thrilled with the result! Last year John Owens Services replaced our ancient Bryant gas and electric heating and air conditioning system with a 3 ton Mitsubishi heat pump system. We love the new system! It has worked flawlessly to provide comfortable heating and A/C throughout the entire year. And this comfort is essentially free, as the electric power needed is provided by our rooftop solar system. The process included sales, design, permitting, installation, and applying for rebates, and every step of the way the John Owens people were pleasant and professional. We would highly recommend them to take care of any HVAC needs.

Had a visit from Cody to check the duct work in our attic and the air flow problem that we had to a couple of upstairs room. Cody was great. He was super communicative about his assessment and recommendations for resolving our issues. I know it's probably common practice now - but it was nice to get an MMS with an ETA and a photo of the technician before our scheduled visit. We are really happy with John Owens Svs and would recommend to anyone looking for a provider.

John Owens Services just installed a new heat pump space heater/cooler in our home, and we are really happy with their work! We ordered a 3-ton ducted system with an outdoor Mitsubishi SUZ-KA36NA2 condenser and an indoor Mitsubishi SVZ-KP36NA air handler, shown in the attached photos. The John Owens team was very thorough with this job, doing load calculations for each room and a blow test on our ducts to determine the best solution for us before they got the contract. Their discipline and ingenuity set them apart from other bidders. They had also installed our heat pump water heater a few years ago, and we appreciated the quality of their work and follow up. Finding a great contractor to electrify your home can take time and due diligence, but it makes a big difference in the end. So we highly recommend them for heat pump installations in the North Bay!

John Owens is THE heating contractor for Marin, Petaluma and Santa Rosa. We are in West Marin and they installed a new Renai Demand heating system for our 1981 home with old baseboard hot water heating system. A complicated setup but they sent three professional heating plumbers to install it in one day. A year later, Tim O’Brien has just come out for a complementary visit to inspect and add more compound and everything is working perfectly! We could not be happier! A highly professional company!

Cody was exceptional explaining options and how everything in our system (heat pump, filtration, air scrubber) functioned with focus on customizing the system for us. I’d give him an A+. Kenney led the installation team. Tim led the inspection, cleaning and sealing of all of our ductwork. Both were also good communicators, kind people, and clearly excelled at what they do. I have used John Owens twice since I have moved back to Santa Rosa and will rate his business 5 star both times. Office personnel are polite, responsive and follow up. The first experience I had was right after buying a house and the water heater had a leak and needed replacing. The house insurance company sent two different plumbers out who didn't know a thing. I finally just looked up a local and happened to choose Owens. We had been without hot water for 10 days. He cancelled his next day weekend activity and replaced our water heater.The second time it was the furnace. The technician was David Caron, perfectly on time when he said he would arrive, was more than happy to talk to me about everything he was checking, completely cleaned up any anything. Just an all round great experience.

We were really concerned when we saw a large water leak coming from our water heater in the late evening. We called John Owens early in the morning and the dispatcher got a plumber out to our house 30 min later! After several years of experiencing our gas fireplace break down, we contacted John Owens Services, and it was one of the best decisions we have made for our home! Alex came out promptly, closely assessed our situation, and provided several heat pump options w/ different price points. He did such an awesome job of answering our questions as we made a decision, preparing us for the install, visited on Day 1 of the work and even returned when we had questions on how to maximize our new system and tailor it best to our needs. We have used John Owen’s for all the things… but really. Our air conditioner broke last summer during a heatwave and their team came out to help us pick what was right for our family. We’ve also had plumbing / bath tub help from them. They are the friendliest crew I’ve ever interacted with! Today I had a plumbing emergency when an outdoor tap would not turn off. The person who answered at John Owens Services Ran Rafael was friendly and helpful, and, after working some scheduling magic, he was able to send a tech out to me within 2 hours. The plumber, Will Isaak, was quick, knowledgeable, and pleasant to talk with. He replaced the faucet, then offered to check my other pipes, since he was here, and did not try to upsell me. I’m grateful. I would not hesitate to call this company again in future.

So far I’ve had excellent service from John Owen’s and have no reason to believe it will change going forward. Beginning with Anita, in the scheduling and information department-she was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and patient in explaining answers to my questions. She was my first point of contact and that experience gave me the confidence to move forward. Then Cody, the service technician, came to the house and he was great too. He was professional, efficient with his use of time, he explained things to me about the system in ways that helped me fully understand. Our new split air system was not working properly and Cody came our to assess the situation. He was very personable and an excellent diagnostician. The receptionist at John Owens answered the phone on the third ring and gave us an emergency Saturday appointment for an inoperative hot water heater for the following morning. The technician/installer, William, arrived on time, listened to my explanation of the issues, conducted a thorough test of the heater circuitry, etc. and gave me 3 options to consider. We decided to replace the 16 year-old water heater and asked about the rusty brown water that would often come out of the faucets. William replaced our old water heater, installed a new drip pan and outlet line to bring us up to code. He also figured out that the rusty brown water was coming from a never used solar water heater on our roof that was draining into the system and capped off those lines. Though not inexpensive, the whole experience was great and we have very hot, CLEAN water coming out of our faucets less than 24 hours after calling for help! Top-rate service from John Owens!!

These guys are amazing, and yes this is a real review. Every other plumbing company quoted over $2700 more For work John Owens did for $1200. Super easy to work with, honest as the day is long. They get in they get the job done they don’t take their time working all day for a 20 minute job and charge you for hours of labor. They did a wonderful job knocked it out in 30 minutes and charge me an amazing price. I will always use these guys I will never use anyone else ever again. Highly recommend them

They asked me to send pictures of our heating system. After they looked at the pictures they said one of their technicians was familiar with this kind of system and we set up an appointment. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the timely, honest, and professional service that was provided to me by John Owens Services and their HVAC technician Chris.Two days before Thanksgiving our 22 year old furnace decided to stop working and I called a couple of companies to try and get it diagnosed and repaired before the holiday. One company (not John Owens) was able to come out that day and diagnose the problem, however they provided me with a quote for $1600 to repair and informed me that it would be at least a week before they could address the issue. Since I had already scheduled an appointment for the Saturday after Thanksgiving I elected to do some research on my own and have John Owens Service to come in to provide a second opinion. I am so thankful I did.Chris arrived on time and was extremely professional. I informed him that I had done some research and even purchased a replacement motherboard (the point of failure) for our furnace but wanted to see what he thought about the situation. He confirmed the board was the point of failure and that I had purchased the correct replacement unit. After performing a thorough inspection of our furnace, Chris installed the board I purchased and then took the extra step of educating me on how to keep this old furnace running safely. Heat exchangers can fail as units age and pump CO into the house if not properly monitored. Chris recommended that I purchase CO monitors for the house to keep tabs on the condition of the furnace while keeping me and my family safe. No one else took the time to discuss these issues with me and I consider that potentially life saving advice. Here's what I learned in this one service call:1. John Owens is committed to putting the customer first and not simply upselling you to things you don't need or padding their estimates.2. Their technicians are not commission based and therefore do what's necessary to provide you with great service.3. They are personable, thorough in their work, and willing to take the time to educate their customers on how to get the most mileage out of existing products.4. They are my new "go-to-guys" for all HVAC and plumbing services.Thanks to Chris and thanks to John Owens himself for understanding how to build a top notch and customer-centric business. I know where I'm going when it's time to buy a new furnace!

We have been a John Owens Services customer for years, living in an Eichler in Lucas Valley. We were always happy with their work. We recently moved into a new house, one that has an attic, an air conditioner, and central heating. We had none of these things before so it was all new to us. We have very good insulation, but on one very hot day we turned on the air condition only to find it didn’t seem to cool the house down at all. We called John Owens and technician Chris Ostrom-Juvencio came out to take a look and perform some minor tune-ups. We think he did a fabulous job. He took lots of photos and notes, and walked us through the systems and some of the issues. He presented us with lots of options, and didn’t push us in any particular direction - instead he described the pros and cons of each solution. For now, we’re sitting tight. But we know when the time comes to repair or replace any of our systems, we will be contacting John Owens - just as we have in the past.

I had scheduled a routine maintenance for my furnace, but I got so much more! Chris promptly came to my house and completed the routine maintenance and then introduced me to the “Air Scrubber” which augments your HAVC system or furnace. It literally gets rid of air pollution in your home (smoke, dust, bacteria, germs, such as Covid) and it keeps the air in your home safe and oder free. Plus, Chris answered all my questions and helped me solve some air flow issues. Best of all, he was polite, interesting and delightful to talk with. It’s a great company, does superior work and I will certainly call them again in the future!

I highly recommend this company. It's so refreshing to experience great customer service again. So many companies are failing in this.John Owens was 1 of about 4 companies I called late on a Friday afternoon when our local temps hit over 100 the first time this season and our A/C stopped working. They had the earliest availability but also good reviews already which I use as a guideline.Mercedes answered the phone even though I called 5 minutes before closing and was very patient and helpful with my questions. Cody showed up on-time on Monday and was also good at explaining what he was doing and what was wrong (the capacitor quit). He's knowledgeable and genuine.. the real deal. No hard sell to replace our 10 yr old unit which another company had pushed during a maintenance check the year before. Good value--I looked up capacitor replacement prior to his arrival as I thought that could be the issue and they were in range for the replacement cost.I'm so glad I have this company to call on for any future issues, knowing I'll receive honest and quality work.

12/15/2021 - their driver in a big box truck tailgated me and my family in the pouring rain. Seriously less than a foot away from my bumper, going over 75mph. Reckless driving in a storm, while in a company vehicle is COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE. Drivers like this cost lives and tear apart families during the holidays.If a company is allowing this untrained person to drive their vehicle on a public road, it makes you wonder what other corners are being cut? Background checks? Inspections? Perhaps not using OEM recommend parts??? We are a first time user of John Owens Services. Joseph and Joe were the team assigned to our installation of a new AC unit. They were on-time, kind, professional, respectful and patient. They were unable to finish the install on the first day and came back promptly on the second to wrap up the project. We had a few follow-on items after the unit was installed and Joseph continue to be the one to arrive on-site and work with me and my husband on resolving the complications we experienced. Through our conversations I could tell he takes great personal pride in his work and delivery of service. John Owens installed all new HVAC system, A/C, and tankless water heater for us in our mid 1960's house and the entire process went very smoothly. It took about eight working days. Esgar was the primary technician and he was very courteous, kept us informed on status, cleaned up daily, and overall did great work; I'd recommend asking for him. John Owens wasn't the lowest quote we received, but when they explained why they wanted to do more work compared to other estimates, it made sense to us and I think the more competitive bids would not have heated/cooled as well as we'd expect. A totally HVAC renovation might be one of those things where picking the lowest bidder might not always be the best idea. John Owens also warranties the system for five years.

I spent two months trying to troubleshoot a non-functioning sauna heater, and was laughed off the phone by company after company when I mentioned we live in Bolinas. I was able to narrow down the issue, ordered replacement parts, and luckily John Owens Services was able to book an appointment and take on the job. The technician, Chris, was fantastic, replacing the various parts (in a very tight and inhospitable spot!) with a smile on his face. Overall, the company is fairly priced, communicates extremely well by phone/text, and at the end of the day, delivers the goods.

John Owens' technician Brad came out to inspect my older gas furnace and provide feedback on its condition. Brad was professional, very helpful and patient in explaining the way the furnace operated and what to expect from it in the future. I would call on them again when I need additional service.

Our water heater broke yesterday (a Thursday) and we originally called our warranty company and were told that someone couldn't come out until Monday. We have a 6 day old baby and when we called John Owens (at 4pm) and told them our situation they told us they would get someone out to our home within 45 mins (thank you so much, Clarissa, for your urgency and kindness). Tim, one of John Owen's technicians, was so empathetic to our situation and diagnosed the issue quickly and lined up someone to come replace the heater the following day. By EOD Friday we had hot water. Thank you so much to the John Owens Staff- we can't express our gratitude enough!

Excellent service and very professional!!! Honesty like I haven't seen before in along time. Although they could've tried to sell me on unnecessary services they did not and advised that we could continue to use our current HVAC even though it was an older model. My house heating boiler made an explosion. This happened in Mill Valley during the shelter in place order, and John Owens Services responded promptly. Tim came out that same morning to diagnose the problem. I needed a new boiler and he gave me an estimate. A+ experience/service. They are very pricey!... That said, they do beautiful work. We had both our radiant heating and hot water replaced with a on demand hot water system and boiler. For the first time we have even heat through out our entire house, the system looks absolutely amazing. I'm very happy with the finished job, and their staff is extremely friendly and informative. I highly recommend John's team, I will be adding them to our HOA's preferred vendor list.

I had to write a review about these guys. They came to change my water heater and did a great job. Much less expensive that others based on talking to my neighbors. I was even able to talk to the owner to get an idea of what's involved. I would highly recommend them. The plumber who actually worked on the job, Troy, was an incredibly nice guy and explained eveything to me. They were puctual and able to get started quickly on the job.

Absolutely top of the line customer service from beginning to end. We were without heat for almost a week, when I called JOSI thanks to another company who charged us without fixing the problem. From the first phone call to the end of the installation, everyone from JOSI was respectful, knowledgeable, punctual, responsive, and simply treated me like a person, not just another "sale". We ended up needing a complete furnace replacement for a 21 year old furnace. On top of everything the final bill came in lower than the estimate! It was a very stressful situation for me in that the furnace was in the attic only accessible through my master closet ceiling, and JOSI made it not only bearable, but actually a positive experience in that we now had heat again!
